The Will Rogers Memorial in Claremore is offering, at no cost to schools, a program for high school Oklahoma history classes and/or American history classes. The program – “Will Rogers was not just a cowboy. . .” – features Dr. Doug Watson, English professor at OBU, who has performed a historical characterization of Will Rogers around the U.S. since 1997. The program provides a preview essay discussing the life and influence of Rogers, a classroom multi-media presentation, a bit of living history, and an opportunity for questions of and discussion with the scholar-presenter. Availability is limited through the 2006-07 school year. Those who wish to schedule a morning or afternoon session (perhaps with combined classes up to a hundred students), should read the attached Q/A document and then contact Dr. Watson at WRnschools@sbcglobal.net or 405-275-0235.
