As an Oklahoma Centennial Project, the Will Rogers Memorial Commission has re-instituted the “Will Rogers In Schools” program. “Will Rogers In Schools” is a powerful program that brings alive the wit, wisdom and role model qualities of the world’s greatest cowboy philosopher. A program for Oklahoma students that combines lecture, multi-media and living history to engage a discussion of Oklahoma’s native son.
“No figure in Oklahoma history had greater worldwide impact in a multitude of arenas than Will Rogers,” Michelle Lefebvre-Carter, director of the Will Rogers Memorial Commission said.
Dr. Doug Watson, a full professor at Oklahoma Baptist University and a veteran performer as Will Rogers, offers his program titled “Will Rogers was not just a cowboy. . .”
“Dr. Watson has both a scholarly and an artistic understanding of Will Rogers,” Lefebvre-Carter said.
Dr. Watson has played in Chautauqua settings nationwide and on C-Span not only as a “one-man show” of Will Rogers but often answers tough contemporary questions in pure vintage Will Rogers.
“An inspiring talent,” Lefebvre-Carter said.
Dr. Watson has his own website www.watsonwill.com.
