Be a Roper

Volunteer at the
Will Rogers Memorial Museums

If you possess an eagerness to meet, greet, and chat with people from all over the world, come experience the joy and excitement of being a Will Rogers Roper, a docent volunteer at the Will Rogers Memorial Museum and the Will Rogers Birthplace Ranch.

As a Roper, you will welcome our visitors, introduce them to the museums, point out places of interest, answer questions about the exhibits and Will Rogers, and give directions for touring and experiencing the museums. The fourteen classes of training will provide you with the information and resources you will need as a Roper volunteer. Continued training and updates will allow you to remain current on new exhibits and events at the Museums. You will have opportunities to contribute your services as guide, greeter, and interpreter and/or work in such areas as collections, horticulture, and special events.

Prospective Ropers should receive or achieve the following:
Intensive training by the staff of the Will Rogers Memorial Museums

Introduction to the collection and its historical significance
Reading lists and resources
Opportunities to shadow experienced Ropers

Continued training and seminars to remain up to date with exhibits
 and programs
Ability to record service time in an accurate and efficient manner
