Jazz Band plays Will Rogers Museum

Gearing up for two days and four performances in Branson, sounds of the Joy A. Maynard Jazz Band (JAM Band) rang from rotunda of Will Rogers Museum in a command performance for Tulsa Channel 6 viewers. The band was featured on the Six in the Morning with Casey Norton and Lee Ann Taylor.

Organized by Joy’s husband, Mark, as a memorial to the Claremore Will Rogers Junior High Band director who died last year “this is a dream come true,” he said, “a last trip in her honor.”  She took the band to Branson to open for live stage shows many years. This trip is funded by donations in honor of Mrs. Maynard.

Band members are alums and junior high band members. Sam Faulkner, a former member of the band, who “shadowed” Mrs. Maynard, is the director.
