County Agent past presidents visit Will’s ranch
County agents, or extension agents as they are called in Oklahoma, are accustomed to visiting ranches, but for most of the former past presidents of the National Association of County Agricultural Agents, a visit to Will Rogers Ranch was special. Meeting in Tulsa for a national convention, Will’s birthplace ranch and the Claremore Will Rogers Memorial were on the touring agenda.
Past national presidents had a steak dinner in the 1870s era barn on the ranch, roamed the grounds and toured the house where Will was born.
Steve Hadcock and his daughter, Carrie, made their first visit to Oklahoma and were just getting acquainted with Will Rogers. From upstate New York, the lay of the land and body of water (Oologah Lake) are similar to the area where they live.
It was like a busman’s holiday for many who are accustomed to visiting farmers and ranchers in their respective areas.
L.D. Allison, retired Rogers County extension director and Will Rogers Roper, was on hand to lead NACAA members through the Will Rogers Memorial. Two days of tours included the Claremore museum so several hundred of the delegates and their wives were in Claremore during the convention.
Allison was a working agent in Mangum the last time the NACAA met in Oklahoma and he attended the Oklahoma City convention.
The National Association Of County Agricultural Agents, or NACAA, is a professional association for cooperative extension agents/specialists who are employed by cooperative state extension services and are members of their state associations.

Fomer past president of the NationalAssociaiton of County Agricultural Agents visited the Will Rogers Birthplace Ranch for a steak dinner and entertainment.

Rick and Lecia Gibson from Arizona especially enjoyed visiting the house were Will Rogers was born.

Paula Schaefer and Steve Haddock from New York were making a first trip to Oklahoma/

The Mark Beelers from Tennessee found the Will Rogers Ranch corral, overlooking Oologah Lake, a peaceful setting to finish their first convention day.
