
The Oklahoma Experience at Walt Disney World Resort Epcot provided worldwide exposure to the state’s $5 billion tourism industry by encouraging visitors to see Oklahoma culture and heritage first-hand.
The backdrop of the Oklahoma Experience at the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival was 100 Stories of Oklahoma, three Walls of Wonder depicting Oklahoma Trailblazers through photos and stories. The Walls, about 28 feet wide by 16 feet tall, allowed guests to discover the history of Oklahoma and the great personalities that have helped shape the image of our state.
For six weeks, millions of visitors learned about what Oklahoma has to offer.
A life-size figure of Will Rogers was the centerpiece of a wall that include other great Indian trailblazers including Jim Thorpe, Astronaut John Herrington and others.
The Oklahoma Experience also contained food and beverage kiosks, an artisan area, entertainment area, merchandise and information show, children’s activities and cooking demonstrations. The final week featured chuck wagon and Native American cooking demonstrations, Native American storytellers.
Epcot’s World Showcase lagoon provided the backdrop to showcase the foods and wines of the world and an introduction to the demonstration of beauty, history, food and culture of Oklahoma in the Centennial year. (Photo Provided by Jenna Adkins)
