Turnbo reappointed to Will Rogers Memorial Commission

Steve Turnbo, Tulsa public relations executive, is recommended for reappointment to the Will Rogers Memorial Commission.

A member of the commission since 1999 when Gov. Frank Keating appointed him, the appointment requires Senate confirmation.

“I am extremely pleased that Governor Henry has made the wise decision to reappoint Steve Turnbo to the Will Rogers Memorial Commission,” said Claremore Sen. Sean Burrage. Steve has a tremendous record of service to the Commission. I support a speedy and trouble-free Senate confirmation.”

Turnbo, current Commission vice chairman and member of the Will Rogers Heritage Board, said, “It has been an honor to serve in the past and I am very pleased and humbled that the Governor has made the reappointment. Will Rogers is our state’s native son. His wit, humor, and genius in interpreting our country’s ethos were unparalleled.

“We should all work to keep his legacy in the forefront of Oklahoma history and make sure our children and grandchildren understand and appreciate his role in our state’s heritage.”

Chairman emeritus of Schnake Turnbo Frank PR in Tulsa, he has been in the public relations business more than 40 years. He came to the Commission with a personal knowledge of Rogers County through his involvement in various projects here.

He has long been a promoter of good causes whether it be in economic development or philanthropic and community endeavors.

Turnbo has served as a leader in the Tulsa and Oklahoma State Chambers of Commerce. He is a graduate of the University of Tulsa.

Other members of the Commission are Chairman Jim Hartz of Virginia, Paul Johnson and Deacon Turner of Tulsa and Steve Pazzo and Cara Cowan Watts of Claremore. Kem Rogers represents the family.
