Family Night at the Museum
Will Rogers Memorial Museum was the destination for a night of Destination Claremore, a nine-day celebration of Claremore area attractions. The museum night offered an opportunity to revisit or make a first trip to the museum to see new and renovated areas and learn about Cherokee Nation Cultural Tourism. Carol Low, museum librarian and archivist, was on hand to show the research library and materials available for researchers or reading materials. Jennifer Holt, museum curator, shared tips for preserving and protecting family heirlooms and items. Lynette Bennett, who does a one-woman show on Betty Rogers life with Will, was featured on stage as was Charlie Green, author and Will Rogers interpreter, whose presentation is a “conversation with Will,” and the museum’s own Will — Andy Hogan. Especially for little trick roper fans, there was a chance for one-on-one with Jim Williams, Will Rogers Birthplace Ranch manager, and his grandson, Boots.

Imagine Betty Rogers the girl from small town Rogers, Arkansas, and the vamp, which learns about show biz and New York. Lynette Bennett is Betty Rogers in “Will Rogers, Spirit of America, His Wife’s Story,” written for the 2008 80th anniversary of the Memorial opening.
