An exclusive September presentation features popular scenes from the highly-acclaimed ‘Under The Cherokee Moon’
The Cherokee Heritage Center is presenting “Under the Cherokee Moon in Indian Territory” for a limited engagement each Saturday in September.
“Under the Cherokee Moon in Indian Territory” is an interactive dramatization that presents authentic Cherokee stories by interpretive actors dressed in period clothing.
Set in the Rural Indian Community (Adams Corner) from the late 1800s, the opening scene features Laurette Willis portraying a student and a teacher at the Cherokee Female Seminary with stories of the Seminary, Civil War and Trail of Tears.
In act two audiences will enjoy performances featuring a variety of patriots, lawmen and outlaws including Cherokee local celebrities Zeke Proctor, Ned Christie, a young Will Rogers, lady-bandit Belle Starr and a visit from John C. West.
The performances are presented in association with Oklahoma Arts Council.
Willis recently completed a successful month of Friday night performances of an original one-woman show “Letters from the Heart: Betty and Will Rogers,” at the Will Rogers Memorial Museum.
