Kinky's WWWRD Campaign

Kinky Friedman's campaign for Texas governor in 2006 gained a seven-page spread in the August 22, 2005 New Yorker magazine. Writer Dan Halpern, in interviewing Friedman noted that "He played with the cigar for a few minutes." Then Halpren quoted the independent candidate: "'WWWRD -- What Would Will Rogers Do? That's really it. Does that work? What did that lady call me? A modern-day common-sense philosopher? I think that's it. I think that's what we need."
