Two Will Rogers’ namesake bands will be marching in Saturday’s Will Rogers Days Parade beginning 4 p.m. The parade, themed “Will Rogers Celebrates Oklahoma” pays tribute to Oklahoman’s 100th anniversary and Will’s 128th birthday.

Claremore’s Will Rogers Jr. High Band and Tulsa Will Rogers High School Band will step it up along Will Rogers Boulevard with Claremore High School marching band, according to John Walke, president Reveille Rotary, parade sponsors.  Other bands are a possibility.

Rogers County lawmakers Sen. Sean Burrage, his wife Carol and their sons, and Rep. Tad Jones, his wife Sammie and their sons, Blake and Logan, will lead the parade.

Clem and Mary Rogers and two of their children will come in from the Oologah ranch in their surrey with the fringe on top and join other Will Rogers’ family members in the parade.

Cherokee Indian Women’s Pocahontas Club and Reveille Rotary are traditions in the parade.

Pony Express riders will arrive from the Will Rogers Trail on Oologah Lake in time to join the parade.

Walke said Shriners, equestrian groups, floats, antique cars and car clubs, and floats and walking units of youths and adults will parade from the Claremore Expo Center along the parade route starting at the Claremore Expo Center down Will Rogers Boulevard to Owalla and south to Dupont returning to the Expo.
