Will Rogers Ranch burro victim of storm

He was named “Lightning,” but to Will Rogers Memorial Public Relations director’s family he was called “Patty.” Not to be confused with his grandmother, the now 12-year-old grandson thought we were saying “Patty” when we said, “pat him.” Lighting, estimated to be 38-years-old, was a ranch favorite and welcomed fond pats by the young visitors at the ranch. During the winter storm, Lightning when out of the barn with the bigger horses and didn’t return. He was another victim of the winter’s deep snow and ice and extreme cold (it was deeper and colder at the ranch on Oologah Lake than it was in some other areas of Rogers County). He was like a member of the family to Ranch Managers’ Jim and Debbie Williams and their grandchildren and the hundreds of children who regularly visit if for no other reason than an opportunity to get near the Will Rogers Ranch animals.
