Will Rogers Memorial Commission members voted to proceed with negotiations with Rogers State University for a possible merger.
Commission Chairman Jim Hartz named a three-member committee to the negotiating team. They are Deacon Turner, Kem Rogers and Hartz with Steve Turnbo substituting for Rogers and Hartz when they are not available. Steve Gragert, Museum director, will serve on the team.
The Commission agreed to pursue a pullback clause that would allow the Museums to revert to the former self-governing structure if the merger arrangement is failing to protect the institution and staff.
RSU’s decision on its willingness to proceed will come at a meeting of the University of Oklahoma Board of Regents in early May.
