American Cowboy magazine, a Western Lifestyle publication, won six All Industry Marketing (AIM) awards at a recent ceremony in Scottsdale, Ariz. The Western and English Trade Association present the annual awards.
The National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City recognized American Cowboy at their annual Western Heritage Awards event.
Two Gold AIM Awards included the Events category for National Day of the American Cowboy and “The Will Rogers Articles” in the Consumer General interest category.
Joe Carter, retired Will Rogers Museums director and author of Will Rogers’ books, wrote a three-part series for American Cowboy entitled “America’s Most Beloved Cowboy.”
The magazine also picked up four bronze AIM awards for: Cover-Consumer for the May/June 2006 issue; Consumer General Interest for “All Around Champions of the World”; News or Feature Articles for “Storytellers of the Southwest” and Publications-Consumer Print for their September/October 2006 issue

American Cowboy was the only magazine to win a prestigious Wrangler Award from the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum for “Six Days Ablaze”
Written by John R. Erickson and published in the September/October and November/December 2006 issues, the article graphically depicts stories of ranchers in the Texas Panhandle who heroically dealt with fires that swept across the region in March 2006. Twelve people and more than 10,000 cattle died in the worst fire to ever sweep across Texas. The evocative article includes photographs of the fire and aftermath of the tragedy.
Jesse Mullins, American Cowboy editor, has been a frequent visitor at the Will Rogers Memorial.
