Parade wraps up Will Rogers Days
More than 100 units in the Will Rogers Days Parade, led by twins Glorea and Cleora Robb who played with Will Rogers in the 1933 movie “Mr. Skitch,” closed the celebration marking the 131st birthday of Will Rogers. Glorea Morgan and Cleora Galt were “Winnie” and “Minnie,” twin daughters of Will Rogers in the movie. Their younger sister, Louanne Fay, who played a chorus girl in “The Will Rogers Story,” starring Will Rogers Jr, was also in the parade.
Claremore High School marching Zebra band took first place in bands. Will Rogers Ropers, docents at Will Rogers Memorial, won the float entry best depicting the theme “Lights, Camera, Action … It’s Hollywood.”
The parade, the finale of the four-day celebration, included antique and classic automobiles, horses, bands, floats and the usual entertainment by members of the Shrine with their funny cars and clowns.
Claremore Reveille Rotary Club, with Mary Klassen as parade chairman, produces the parade.
