Leon Plemmons

Memories of 70 years ago
“I was here when this Memorial opened,” said Leon Plemmons as he sat on the Claremore Will Rogers Memorial stone south patio and looked out over Claremore. As a 10-year-old, his best memories are the “long walk from Claremore to get out here” and “a lot of people made speeches.” Plemmons, member of prominent Catoosa family, left his home in that community to serve in World War II and was recalled for the Korean conflict. He met his wife, Blanca, in California. They lived there many years before returning to his natïve community and the family farm.
